The forum-workshop is being organized by the Mathematical Society of the Philippines, UP NISMED, UP LAYAP, and the Eggie Apostol Foundation. The goals of this activity are: a) to explain the whys and wherefores of the revised early grades math curriculum and of the new mode of delivering the same through the first language; and b) to organize and mobilize educators and other stakeholders in addressing the fresh challenges in math education related to materials development, curriculum adaptation and teacher training.

ANO [WI]KA MO LECTURE SERIES discusses the language’s role on education, pedagogy and the society. The discussions focus on the role of linguistic and language research in establishing a multilingual education and literacy program. This March 12, 2012, Layap will host a tutorial/workshop with Prof. Stephen Beale, a computational linguist from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Prof. Beale will be presenting his Linguist’s Assistant (LA), a practical computational paradigm for describing languages. It will be a whole-day workshop, from 9:00am-5:00pm at Palma Hall 227, CSSP.

This is the cat that ate my hamburger buns while I was away for Liv5. This is also the cat that jumps through our window. My friends Nadine and Nicole call her Nyra (not sure about the spelling, though. haha). She’s really cute at night time because she looks so innocent with her big eyes. Nicole said they were sensitive to light since during the morning ‘til the sun is up, her pupils become really dilated. I attempted to take a picture of Nyra last night so I could show you but she wouldn’t let me. :P
